Abstract

1425063 Tread support H GERLACH 19 April 1973 [22 April 1972] 19152/73 Heading E1B A tread support element for a staircase comprises a horizontal hollow section 2 of steel to which is welded a tube 3 and a sleeve 4, adjacent elements being held together by a bolt 18 engaging a nut 6 welded in the tube 3' when it is inserted into the sleeve 4. The hollow section 2 may be of square or I section with a hollow bar, and the tube 3 and sleeve 4 may be of round or square section. The sleeve and the tube may be merely butt welded to the hollow section (2), Fig. 4 (not shown), or welded in a semicircular cut out in the hollow section (2), Fig. 2 (not shown). The tube 3 and the sleeve 4 may be prevented from rotating by a screw 14, and plastics caps 24, 25, 26 may be inserted in the ends of the hollow section 2 and placed over the bolt head 21.
