1425017 Liquid dispensing FORECOURT AUTOMATION Ltd 1 Feb 1974 [3 Nov 1972] 50763/72 Heading A4T Liquid dispensing apparatus comprises two storage tanks T 1 , T 2 , e.g. for petrol of two octane ratings, dispensing positions S A , each having a series of nozzles N 1 -N 5 which may be coupled by control switches S 1 -S 5 to at least one of the tanks T 1 , T 2 , a control position D having means for opening respective control valves V 1 -V 5 for the nozzles N 1 -N 5 in response to'signals from the switches S 1 -S 5 , respective metering devices M 1 -M 5 for the nozzles, calculating means CA for producing a signal indicative of dispensed volume and/or price and indicator meansV 1 P at the dispensing position governed by the signal e.g. to indicate dispensed volume and total price. Petrol from the tanks T 1 , T 2 is fed to blending means B 1 -B 3 for producing three intermediate blended grades, the resultant five grades being fed through lines L 1 -L 5 to the metering devices M 1 -M 5 of each of a series of dispensing positions S A . On operating a chosen nozzle, metering pulses from the appropriate device M 1 -M 5 are fed through a channel SM to the calculating unit CA, the indicator means V, P being controlled in turn by transmission channels 1v, 1p. The calculating unit C A may calculate a final price to be paid, or may terminate dispensing after credit previously established, e.g. by cash pre-payment or credit card, has been exhausted.
