1424876 Image intensifier tubes INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 4 May 1973 21245/73 Heading H1D In an image intensifier which includes a channel electron multiplier 17 located between a photocathode 15 and a phosphor screen 16, a passitive ion adsorptive layer-e.g. the titanium layer 21 coated on the multiplier output electrode 20-is located between the multiplier and the phosphor screen, and is pierced with holes aligned with the channels of the multiplier, whereby the life of the photocathode is increased. In an alternative arrangement, the separate multiplier electrode 20 may be dispensed with, the titanium layer serving both as electrode and as ion adsorber.
