Abstract

1424278 Shearing HOECHST AG 22 May 1973 [25 May 1972] 24295/73 Heading B3W [Also in Division B4] An apparatus for cutting sheet material, e.g. thin metal, comprises an inclined supporting plate 3 for the material, a blade 5 secured to one edge of the plate, a rotary disc cutter 18 movably mounted adjacent the blade and a straightedge 4 for locating the material. The supporting plate, e.g. of finely corrugated sheet metal, is secured to a framework 1. The disc cutter 18 is rotatably mounted in bearings 20, Fig. 4, located in a carriage 8, the cutter being urged by pressure of a spring 26 against the edge of the blade 5; the loading of the spring is adjustable by means of a screw 29. The carriage is slidably mounted on a rail 7 and guided via rollers 15, Fig. 3, on a further rail 16, the carriage is moved by means of an electric motor 36 via a cable-andpulley arrangement 35, 37, 39, Fig. 1. The material is clamped along the edge adjacent the blade by a bar 42; the bar acts via a flexible plastics strip 43 on the material.
