Abstract
1424020 Gas burners CONCENTRIC CONTROLS Ltd and JELSON ELECTRIC Ltd 17 July 1974 [25 July 1973] 35392/73 Heading F4T A gas ignition system comprising a spark generator for a pilot burner of the type having a diode rectifier 17, a capacitor 18 and a discharge device 19 and a flame failure device which allows gas to a main burner only when the pilot is lit comprising a valve 4 biased to the closed position and opened by expanding fluid in a probe 7 and chamber 6 is characterized by having an electrical switch 8, 10 which is closed when the valve 4 is open to complete a path to earth in the spark generating circuit such that the current is insufficient to charge up the capacitor and produce sparks for lighting the pilot burner. Several spark gaps may be arranged in parallel and to allow them to spark even though the valve 4 is open, an override is provided which comprises a resistor and a diode rectifier which can be switched into parallel with resistor 16 and diode rectifier 17 thus allowing sufficient current to charge up capacitor 18.
