Abstract
1423906 Colour television MAGNAVOX CO 17 April 1973 [17 April 1972] 18560/73 Heading H4F Non-linearities in the colour component signals from a colour television camera are compensated by controlling the gains of respective amplifiers in response to the associated luminance signal. The colour television camera may be a one-tube camera having a striped colour filter (21, Fig. 1, not shown) including cyan stripes and, at an angle thereto, yellow stripes, the luminance and chrominance signals being separated by filters 45, 53, the red and blue component signals being derived at subtracting circuit 57 and adding circuit 56. The red and blue component signals are supplied to circuits 61, 59 (also Fig. 4, not shown) in which the gains of respective amplifiers are controlled by the luminance signal fed via low-pass filter 63, an increase in the level of the luminance signal increasing the amplifier gains. The resulting red and blue colour component signals are passed via a balance circuit 65 to an NTSC encoder 43. The camera may include a spatial frequency filter (22, Fig. 1, not shown) to remove frequencies in the light from a viewed object which correspond to the subcarrier frequency passed by band-pass filter 53.
