1423886 Hydroxylamine salts COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 9 Nov 1973 [16 Nov 1972] 52095/73 Heading C1A A hydroxylamine salt (e.g. sulphate or chloride) is continuously converted into a different salt (e.g. nitrate or formate) by extracting a solution of the starting salt with a cationic solvent in counter current to extract the hydroxylamine cation (NH 3 OH+), followed by re-extraction of the hydroxylamine cation by contacting the charged solvent in counter current with an aqueous solution wherein the anion is that of the salt it is desired to obtain. The term " cationic solvent " means a solvent having a cation displaceable by the hydroxylamine cation. The cationic solvent may be dispersed in dodecane or kerosene, and an alcohol, ketone or tributyl phosphate added to prevent formation of a third phase. The solvent may be an alkylphosphoric acid, e.g. di-2-ethyl-hexylphosphoric acid.
