Abstract

1423725 Determination of oxygen demand J M VOITH GmbH 2 April 1973 [1 April 1972] 15629/73 Heading G1B Oxygen demand is determined using apparatus comprising a test chamber in which the oxygenconsuming process is to take place, (see for example the apparatus of 989561), means for triggering the supply of an oxygen stream to the chamber, the triggering means being responsive to the pressure in the chamber, a motor and digital counting and/or continuous recording means arranged to be driven directly by the motor, the triggering means being arranged to cause operation of the motor during each period of oxygen supply to the chamber. In the apparatus shown, pressureactuated switch 5 is connected to the test chamber (not shown) and closes to switch on current through an electrolysis cell 13 when the pressure in the test chamber drops to a predetermined value. There is simultaneously switched on motor 14 which controls operation of dotted line recorder 18 and digital counter 19. In another embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown) the electrolysis current varies and the speed of rotation of motor 14 is proportional to the current.
