Abstract

1423635 Drill boom apparatus ATLAS-COPCO AB 28 Feb 1974 [3 July 1973] 9180/74 Heading B3C Drill boom apparatus having hydraulic parallel motion means for positioning an elongate rock drilling apparatus 44 to different drilling positions with respect to a boom support 12 comprises a first cross shaft 11 on the boom support, a drill boom 10 pivotably mounted thereon, a second cross shaft 39 for pivotably supporting the drilling apparatus, hydraulic elevating and tilt cylinder means 28 and 37 respectively, one end of each cylinder being pivotably connected to the drill boom 10, an hydraulic pilot cylinder means 29 for sensing the setting of the elevation angle of the drill boom, an hydraulic circuit including conduit means connecting one chamber of the hydraulic pilot cylinder means with one chamber of the hydraulic tilt cylinder means 37 for purposes of one-sided hydraulic slave coupling thereof whereby to maintain parallel displacement of the rock drilling apparatus during positioning, and means for pressurizing the mutually unbounded chambers of these two cylinders selectively and simultaneously with the chambers of the hydraulic elevating cylinder means 28 during elevating or lowering of the rock drilling apparatus. The drilling apparatus is moved horizontally by an hydraulic feed bar displacing cylinder means 40 and is positioned slidably on a boom head 34. The boom support 12 is attached to a shaft 15 which can be rotated through 360 degrees by an hydraulic turning means 13. In the hydraulic circuit various hydraulic locks ensure that the hydraulic cylinder means 28, 29 and 37 operate in unison to maintain the rock drilling apparatus horizontal for all positions of the drill boom.
