Abstract

1423427 Mounting resistance elements FUJI XEROX CO Ltd 26 Feb 1973 [29 Feb 1972] 9435/73 Heading H5H A heating resistor 2 for use in apparatus for the thermal fixing of electrophotographic images consists of a thin metal sheet slitted alternately from opposite edges to form a plurality of strips 5 connected to each other at their ends as shown, the resistor being supported between a plurality of cross-members 3 of circular crosssection and formed at least partially of insulating and heat resistant material, said crossmembers extending perpendicularly to the strips 5 and being arranged in sliding contact with opposite surfaces of the resistor whereby the latter is free to move relatively to the crossmembers to permit expansion and contraction in its own plane. Each strip 5 may be transversely angled or curved. Two resistors may be located in containers arranged in vertically opposed relation to form a fusion-bonding apparatus for image-carrying paper sheets passed between the resistors Fig. 1 (not shown).
