Abstract

1422784 Hydraulic actuators ULTRA ELECTRONICS Ltd 24 April 1973 [18 April 1972] 17811/72 Heading F1D In a hydraulic actuator, Fig. 1, in which a spool valve 11 controlled by an electric motor 16 causes reciprocation of a piston 21, a link 14 is provided between the shool and an extension 13 of the piston-rod 24 which is operable to lock the piston to the spool, thereby arresting it, if the electrical supply fails. The link 14 has a spring- loaded jaw 15, Fig. 2, which is held in a disengaged position by a solenoid 17. If the power fails the solenoid 17 is de-energized and spring 26 pushes the jaw 15 into clamping engagement with the serrated rod 13.
