Abstract

1422671 Combined steps and stool CRAMER INDUSTRIES INC 29 June 1973 31019/73 Heading E1S [Also in Division A4] A step stool comprises a hollow base 2 having a top wall and a peripheral wall extending downwardly and outwardly therefrom, an up standing super structure 3 mounted on the base, spaced from the front end and having side walls 17 inwardly of the side edges 18 of the base, a plurality of steps including a step 6 formed by a portion of the base top wall in front of the superstructure 3, a top step formed by a platform 4 on the upstanding structure 3, and one or more intermediate steps 7 within the structure 3 and a floor-engaging rim member 12 around the bottom of the peripheral wall. The base has resiliently mounted castors whereby it may be moved freely when under no load, but the floor-engaging member 12 is brought into frictional contact with the floor when a user mounts the steps. Hand-hold posts 5 may be fitted in sockets in the platform 4 or base 2, and a shelf 68 for articles may be fitted to the tops of two such posts 5. The steps have non-slip surfacings. A seat structure for fitting to the platform 4 is described.
