1422177 Articles made from poly-1,3,4-oxadiazole resin FURUKAWA ELECTRIC CO Ltd 8 May 1973 21780/73 Heading C3R Shaped articles of poly-1,3,4-oxadiazole resin formed by wet-shaping and coagulation from a solution of a poly-1,3,4-oxadiazole resin in concentrated sulphuric acid, are washed in water to obtain the articles in a gelled state and then they are contacted with (i) an aqueous buffer solution at a pH between 5 and 12, or (ii) an aqueous solution of an amide compound, or (iii) an aqueous solution of an amine, or (iv) an aqueous solution of a hydroxide, carbonate, bicarbonate, silicate or phosphate of sodium, potassium, lithium, magnesium copper, manganese or zinc, the shaped articles finally being washed and dried. The shaped articles which may be fibres, films or impregnated materials, have improved mechanical properties and heat stability The articles may be heated and drawn. Examples are given.
