Abstract

1422061 Intermediates for colour couplers EASTMAN KODAK CO 15 Feb 1973 [17 Feb 1972] 7515/73 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C4 and G2] 1,4 - (Di - (ethoxycarbonyloxy) - 2 - {3 - [α - (#- methoxyphenylcarbamyl) acetyl ] phenylcarbamylmethyl}benzene is prepared by refluxing 1,4 - di - (ethoxycarbonyloxy) - 2 - carboxymethylbenzene in dry benzene with thionyl chloride, removing the benzene and adding 3- [α - (# - methoxyphenylcarbamyl)acetyl]aniline and N,N-dimethylaniline in acetone. 1,4-Di- (ethoxycarbonyloxy) - 2 - {(3 - hydroxy - 4- perfluoropropylcarbonylamino - 6 - aminophenyl) carbamylmethyl}benzene is prepared by heating thionyl chloride, N,N-dimethylformamide and 1,4-di-(ethoxycarbonyloxy)-2-(carboxymethyl)benzene in dry tetrahydrofuran, removing the solvent under reduced pressure to give 1,4 - di - (ethoxycarbonyloxy) - 2 - (chlorocarbonylmethyl)benzene, dissolving this in dry dioxane, adding 3-hydroxy-4-perfluoropropylcarbonylamineaniline and quinoline and recrystallizing from acetonitrile. 1,4-Di-(ethoxycarbonyloxy - 2 - {3 - [1 - (2,4,6 - trichlorophenyl) - pyrazol - 5 - on - 3 - ylamino] - 4- chlorophenylcarbamylmethyl}benzene is prepared by refluxing thionyl chloride and N,N-dimethylformamide in dry benzene, removing the solvent under reduced pressure, dissolving the residue in acetic acid, adding 3-[1-(2,4,6- trichlorophenyl) - pyrazol - 5 - on - 3 - ylamino]- 4 - chloroaniline and sodium acetate in acetic acid, pouring into water, neutralizing with sodium bicarbonate and recrystallizing from ethyl acetate.
