1421533 Water supply in indirect domestic water heaters FLEMING FABRICATIONS Ltd 29 Jan 1973 [29 Jan 1972] 4294/73 Divided out of 1421532 Heading F4A An indirect domestic water heating system, in which a boiler B heats primary water for circulation through an indirect heat exchanger 29 mounted in a domestic water cylinder 26, includes a unit which allows primary and domestic water circuits to be served by a common supply tank H and to have a common vent to the atmosphere; the unit comprising a housing 10 defining two sets of upper 12, 13 and lower 14, 15 chambers linked by tubes 19, 20 and having a connection 18 between the upper chambers, the lower chambers 14, 15 being connected to flow and return sides respectively of the boiler by lines 21, 22, and the upper chambers 12, 13 respectively venting to the atmosphere through line 23 and being connected by line 24 to an expansion pipe of the domestic cylinder. Water heated in the domestic cylinder releases dissolved air into the upper chambers 12, 13 to effectively separate primary and domestic circuits. In the embodiment shown the primary circuit serves in addition for central heating and a pump 5 circulates primary water through radiator R. A closable vent (25, Fig. 1, not shown), is provided in the chamber 14-this allows the primary circuit to be vented, allowing water to overflow into it via tube 19 when replenishment is necessary.
