Abstract

1421473 Insulating moulds in presses LE JOINT FRANCAIS 9 Nov 1973 [9 Nov 1972] 52232/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] A thermally insulative structure for thermally insulating two spaced walls, e.g. for thermally insulating the heating plate 9 of a moulding press from the bearing bar 4 to which it is fixed, comprises several studs 11 of polyimide filled with elongate glass fibres inserted in openings formed in a thermally insulating screen 10 of, e.g. fibro-cement, the thickness of which is less than the height of the studs. The heating plate 9 bears a mould 8 and is fixed to the bearing bar 4 by means of rods 12. The height of the studs 11 is preferably less than their diameter. The structure is stable at a temperature of 200‹ C. and no deformation is observed when repeated pressures of 300 to 400 bars are applied. The press described is intended for the moulding of elastomers and thermosetting materials.
