Abstract

1421326 Lamp lenses LUCAS ELECTRICAL CO Ltd 9 May 1973 [10 May 1972 25 Jan 1973] 21686/72 and 3823/73 Heading F4R A lens assembly for a lamp comprises two elements 11, 12 having respective major surfaces 14, 17 which together define the external surface of the assembly, the elements also including further surfaces 10, 19 which are orbitally friction welded together to unite the elements. The elements may be of differently coloured, transparent, synthetic resin. One element 11 may include a "second" projection 13 which abuts the other element after welding and covers the weld externally. In a modified embodiment the "first" projection 15 carrying the further surface 19 may be shortened and a "third" projection produced on surface 10 to form the other of the further surfaces. This configuration may be modified to give projections with two welding surfaces forming a box section welded along opposite sides.
