Abstract

142,110. Mehner, H. Nov. 26, 1914, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. By aerating ascending column.-Apparatus for raising molten materials comprises an inner tube 3 of refractory material, a pressure-resisting outer casing 5, and an intermediary refractory filling material 4. The pipe 3 has one or more branches 9 into which partly cooled material may flow and solidify in order to keep the main pipe open. Compressed gas is admitted from a pipe 8 to the pipe 3 through a section 6 of refractory porous material and raises the molten material to the the delivery end of the pipe 3. The material 4 is divided into a number of sections by gas-tight partitions 11 to prevent escape of gas in case the tube 3 cracks. A tapping hole 12 closed by a plate 13 is provided at the bottom of the pipe.
