Abstract

1421054 Road traffic signals J BOWER 12 Nov 1973 52328/73 Heading G4Q The driver of a road vehicle is warned of an imminent danger by sensing the movement of the vehicle past a sensing station, producing a signal in response to said movement, and using the signal to operate an audible alarm fixed to a support adjacent the path of travel of the vehicle. As described, contact of the wheels of the vehicle with a sensing pad or cable arranged in the roadway ahead of a hazard causes the sounding of a siren mounted at the side of the road. For giving a genera] alarm, the sirens may also be operated from a remote control centre independently of the movement of vehicles. Suitable apparatus is described with reference to circuit diagrams.
