Abstract

1421048 Binding tapes ERWIN KAMPF MASOHINENFABRIK 12 Oct 1973 [12 Oct 1972] 47893/73 Heading B8R A turret winder for magnetic tapes comprises a winding cross 3 having a pair of arms 4 each of which supports a plurality of coaxially spaced flanged spools 5, 6 movable between binding and discharging position, the winder being further provided with a tape cutting off and leading end applying device. The device which is actuated by a fluid cylinder 17 includes a table 14 mounted pivotally on a pin 13 fast with a frame plate 1 and rocked by supporting arms 15 between a tape cutting position and a rest position. In the tape cutting position a block 24 which is acted upon by a spring 30 causes arms 32 to pivot cutting arms 35 towards the tapes which are severed by the needles 36 and the leading ends of the severed tapes are applied to the cores of spools 5 by respective brushes 37. The core surfaces are sprayed with atomized water supplied by humidifying nozzles 50 prior to applying the leading end of the tape to the core.
