Abstract

1420748 Two-part couplings O SMITH 10 April 1973 [1 March 1972 12 April 1972] 9478/72 Heading H2E An electrical connector comprises a face member 34, detachably connected to a body member 32 having three parts, namely a housing 28 attachable to a support, a contact plate 12, with contact means 10 connectable to a power supply, readily removably mounted within housing 28, and insulating cover 24; face member 34 having contact pins 36 which engage contact means 10 through apertures 37 in cover 34. Each contact 10 has a cylindrical portion 16 locating in a semi-cylindrical groove in contact plate 12and in Fig. 2 also in surface 23. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 contact plate 12 is retained in depression 48 by cover plate 24 attached to housing 28 by screws 50. To connect members 34 and 32, T-shaped member 54 and pins 36 are inserted through aperture 60 and slots 37 respectively. Member 34 is then shifted relative 32 so that central portion 62 of member 54 enters slot 64. On twisting cap 63 locators 66 project into aperture 60 and hole 68. The embodiment of Fig. 1 (not shown) is as Fig. 2 but member 34 carries only a switch.
