Abstract

1420731 Electrolytic capacitors SPRAGUE ELECTRIC CO 6 May 1974 [7 May 1973 (2)] 19905/74 Heading H1M In a low impedance electrolytic capacitor assembly suitable for use as a filter, a terminal assembly includes conductive members 32, 34, separated by insulation 33, and a plurality of flattened roll capacitors 2 are located on either side thereof with the tail ends 12, 14 of the electrode foils welded at 36, 38 to one or other of members 32, 34, depending on their polarity, whereby the individual capacitors 20 are connected in parallel. As shown in Fig. 6, the conductive members, here bearing reference numerals 43, 44, are connected to, preferably formed integral with, two semi-circular conductive members 41, 42 which are coplanar and insulated from each other, and together constitute a closure member for the capacitor casing (Fig. 7, not shown). A peripheral gasket insulates the closure member from the conductive easing which in normal fashion is turned over on to the gasket. The outer surface of the closure member carries threaded terminals for making external connection. The electrode foils may be aluminium, and both foils may be etched and anodized to provide a non-polar assembly. The spacer may be paper or plastics and the electrolyte ethanolamine trifluoroacetate in dimethylformamide. The widths of the tail ends of the electrode foils may be less than their widths in the body of the roll (Fig. 7, not shown).
