Abstract
1420408 Artificial resin depolymerization ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 11 April 1973 [13 April 1972 24 Feb 1973] 17430/73 Heading C3R [Also in Division D1] Raw materials are recovered from fibrous thermoplastic resins by melt- or pressurebonding a surface portion only of a mass of the fibrous resin to form discrete compressed shaped articles with apparent s.g. > ¢ the true s.g. of the resin, and depolymerizing the articles. The melt-bonding may be performed by heating the article by friction. The resin may be polyamide or polyester, and may, before bonding, be cut into short fibres, washed, and dried. Depolymerizations.-Polyethylene terephthalate is heated with ethylene glycol and Mn acetate; nylon 66 is heated with aq. NaOH; nylon 6 is heated with phosphoric acid by superheated steam.
