1420135 Cooling pump motors ITT INDUSTRIES Inc 15 Feb 1973 [18 Feb 1972] 7435/73 Heading H2A In an electric-motor driven pump comprising an impeller 5 and a jacket 2 which partly or entirely surrounds the motor 1 and through which flows the medium, e.g. water being pumped, a partition 6, e.g. a cylinder is provided within the jacket which it divides into two partly separated chambers through which a circulation of air is promoted should the pump run dry with its outlet closed. In order to improve the flow one or both ends of the partition may be thickened, or, in another embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), one end of the partition is placed close to the impeller.
