Abstract

1419685 Steam generation; tubular heat exchangers STEIN INDUSTRIE 7 Feb 1973 [11 Feb 1972] 6054/73 Headings F4A and F4S In a heat-exchanger unit an outer shell 1 surrounds a tube bundle 2, through which passes a first fluid (e.g. water), an inner sleeve 12 surrounds the tube bundle and a jacket 23 and the inner sleeve extends between the sleeve and the outer shell. A transverse partition wall 20 rests on an annular flange 27 provided on the inside surface of the outer shell 1 and forms an upper (21) and a lower (22) annular space between the outer shell, the jacket 23 and the partition wall. A second fluid (e.g. sodium) enters the annular space 21 through a duct 6 and is discharged through a duct 7 whereby minimum differential expansion under both steady-state and transient flow conditions occur between the outer shell 1 and the tubes of the bundle 2. Two sets of radial fins 24 are disposed on each side of the partition wall 20 to prevent circulation of the second fluid in the vicinity of the partition wall. A group of interconnected heat-exchanger units may be employed as a steam generator, a first unit intended to carry out heating and vaporization, a second unit intended to carry out superheating and a third unit intended to carry out re-superheating (Fig. 3, not shown).
