1419321 Machining halides; milling LEE SONA PLASTICS MACHINERY Ltd 14 May 1974 [16 May 1973] 23424/73 Headings B3D and B3K In a grinding or milling machine having a traversible work table on which a workpiece 1 is supported between centres 2 and 3 an attachment is mounted, on a column 4 of the machine, which is connectable with the workpiece to permit the milling or grinding of a helical groove in the surface of the workpiece by means of a grinding wheel or milling cutter 10 supported on the column 4. The attachment in the form of a mounting plate 5 firmly screwable to the column 4, the plate carrying a pivotable plate 6 which is pivotable about an axis at right angles to the axis of the workpiece centres and intersecting therewith. A track 7 in the form of a rod slidably carries thereon a runner 8 which is connected with the workpiece 1 by way of a collar 9, the track being orientated at an acute angle to the axis of the workpiece by pivoting the plate 6 so that movement of the worktable, with the workpiece, past the column 4 also causes rotation of the workpiece between the centres causing a helical path to be cut in the surface of the workpiece.
