Abstract
1419303 Homogenizing air/fuel mixture LACREX BREVETTI S A 8 Feb 1973 6146/73 Heading F1B Means, for use with a carburetter of an I.C. engine for improving the homogenity of the fuel air mixture and employed in combination with a throttle valve 1 and a suction channel 2, comprises an atomizer sleeve 3 arranged in the suction channel directly downstream of the throttle valve, guide element means 5 having deflector portions projecting into the flow-path and through flow openings, said guide means extending over the entire suction channel flow cross-section and arranged in spaced relationship from one another, the atomizer sleeve being provided at its end adjacent the throttle valve with a part spherical recess 9, the shape of which corresponds exactly to the space across which sweeps one half of the throttle valve when it moves in an opening direction. The guide elements may consist of separate plates arranged parallel to one another, each plate having embossed portions which project into the flow-path between adjacent plates, and also having perforations which provide communication between adjacent flow channels. Alternatively the guide elements may consist of a single piece of sheet material wound into a coil after having been stamped with a tool which pierces the sheet and bends a portion of the sheet out of the plane thereof as shown in Fig. 5. The guide elements may also consist of discrete coaxial cylinders. A second set of guide elements of the separate plate type may be arranged in the suction channel with the planes of the sheets at right angles to the planes of the sheets of the first guide means. A secondary air inlet 8 may be provided, the effective flow crosssectional area of the inlet varying in dependence on the throttle opening.
