1419036 Coating transparent sheets by vapour deposition W C HERAEUS GmbH 20 Feb 1974 [24 Feb 1973] 7817/74 Heading C7F [Also in Division G2] A transparent plastics e.g. polycarbonates or polyacylates or glass sheet is coated by vapour deposition with an intermediate layer of zinc sulphide, titania, lead fluoride, thorium tetrafluoride, thoria alumine, zirconice, niobium oxide, cadmium oxide, and then a layer of an alloy containing 80- 95 Ag-5 to 20 Pd, Ni, Cd or Si. The refractive index of the intermediate layer is 1.70 to 2.30 and its thickness from 155 to 185 Á.
