1418959 Measuring temperature STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 15 May 1973 23028/73 Heading G1N [Also in Division H2] To protect apparatus, e.g. a programmecontrolled test equipment, from damage or incorrect operation by heat due to excessive current and/or ambient temperature, a thermistor for use in the apparatus, and which brings about an alarm condition, comprises a bead-type thermistor 3 attached to the surface of a resistor 6 whose temperature is to be monitored by a plastics resin 4, the thermistor being electrically but not thermally insulated from the resistor, and the assembly is enclosed in a heat-shrinkable sleeve (not shown) which is heat shrunk thereon. In manufacture, the sleeve is heated so as to cause it to achieve stability prior to hardening of the resin.
