Abstract

1418870 Resolution of N-benzoyl-[alphaamino phenyl acetic acid] BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 4 Dec 1972 [14 Dec 1971] 58063/71 Heading C2C An enantiomorph of N-benzoyl-[α-aminophenylacetic acid] is obtained from N-benzoyl- [DL-α-amino-phenylacetic acid] or from a sodium salt thereof, by allowing the enantiomorph to selectively crystallize out of a supersaturated solution of N-benzoyl [DL-α-aminophenylacetic acid], or the sodium salt thereof, containing the enantiomorph dissolved therein and optionally also in the form of seed crystals. An enantiomorph of α-aminophenylacetic acid is obtained from DL-α-aminophenylacetic acid by converting the DL-α-aminophenylacetic acid into N-benzoyl-[DL-α-aminophenylacetic acid] or the sodium salt thereof, treating this to obtain an enantiomorph as described above and converting the enantiomorph obtained into the corresponding enantiomorph of α-aminophenylacetic acid.
