Abstract

1418502 Counters: zeroizing SANGAMO WESTON Ltd 12 June 1973 [12 June 1972] 27368/72 Heading G4D A counter has transfer pinions 18a which are withdrawn from the number wheels 10 during zeroizing and means for maintaining both the transfer pinions and the number wheels, while disengaged, in suitable positions so that they can be re-engaged. Thus the transfer pinions 18a and an input coupling pinion (18b, 18c) (Fig. 3, 4, not shown) are mounted on a lever 32 which can be pivoted by a push button 36 or an electromagnet to disengage from the number wheels. The pinions 18 move to engage a blade 46 which locates between adjacent teeth. The number wheels carry weights 52 which are placed between two number positions so that the wheels cannot stick in the top dead centre position. A magnet 56 is attached to lever 32 and moves close to the wheels during zeroizing; it is so placed as to attract the weights 52 away from the bottom dead centre position so that the zero is accurately positioned in window 26. Alternatively (Figs. 5a, 5b, not shown) the number wheels are diametrically magnetized and a magnet 56, (62) provides the zerozing force as well.
