Abstract

1418461 Sewing MARKS & SPENCER LTD 9 Feb 1973 [13 Jan 1972] 1726/72 Heading D1G An article made from woven or knitted material treated to make it water resistant has sewn seams with stitching exposed to both the exterior and interior surfaces, at least the stitching exposed to the interior surface being formed by a hydrophobic synthetic monofilament, e.g. polyamide, polyester, polytetrafluorethylene, polypropylene, or polyurethane, to reduce the tendency for water to pass through the seam. The stitching on the exterior may be of a multifilamentary or spun thread. The stitdhes may be lock stitches and both threads may be nylon monofilament or one nylon monofilament and the other spun polyester. Decorative stitching or quilting stitching may similarly be partly or wholly of monofilaments.
