Abstract

1418302 Phosphate monoesters of hydroxylated polyalkylene polyamines SANDOZ Ltd 19 Dec 1972 58565/72 Heading C2P [Also in Division C3] Phosphate esters of formula: where R<SP>1</SP> is -CH 2 OPO 3 H 2 , R<SP>2</SP> is hydrogen, alkyl, -CH 2 COOH, or -CH 2 CH 2 OH, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are hydrogen or alkyl and x is an integer, e.g. 1 to 20, are obtained by reacting one mol of an amine of formula with x moles of a (2-aminoalkyl)-sulphuric acid ester of formula in the presence of at least 2 x moles of alkali metal hydroxide. The products may be acylated with fatty acids or perfluorated aliphatic carboxylic acids or their functional derivatives. In examples sulphuric acid mono-(2-aminoethyl)- ester is reacted with aminoethyl phosphate, and sulphuric acid mono-(2-methylaminoethyl)ester and sulphuric acid mono-(2-amino-isopropyl)- ester respectively are reacted with phosphoric acid mono-(2-aminoethylester), all the reaction mixtures including sodium hydroxide; the products are then acylated by reaction with stearic acid. The product of the first mentioned example is also acylated with perfluorooctoic acid.
