Abstract

1418027 PVC compositions BICC Ltd 23 March 1973 [24 March 1972 6 March 1973] 13944/72 and 10764/73 Heading C3P A vinyl chloride polymer composition comprises 100 part vinyl chloride polymer, a plasticizer, 5 to 250 parts of filler of which at least 5 parts is alumina trihydrate and 3 to 25 parts of antimony trioxide or sulphide as a fire retardant. A further fire retardant may be included if necessary. In examples polyvinyl chloride is mixed with dialkyl phthalate and chloroparaffin plasticizers, a stabilizer, alumina trihydrate optionally mixed with calcium carbonate, and antimony trioxide or sulphide. The compositions are used as insulation or sheathing for electric cables.
