Abstract

1417839 Semi-conductor circuits D P NEVILLE 7 Dec 1972 [8 Dec 1971 29 Feb 1972 14 Sept 1972] 56934/71 9289/72 and 42757/72 Heading H3T A pulse generating arrangement comprises two asymmetrically conducting solid state, electrolytic or ionic devices each having a donor electrode and an emitter electrode connected in series back to back and means for applying an input voltage pulse to the devices for a duration shorter than the storage times of them so that one of the devices is forward biased and the other reverse biased resulting in break down accompanied by a rapid increase in voltage across the reverse biased device to a threshold and an output current that restores the forward biased device almost to zero voltage condition. The basic circuit may be used in bi-stable circuits Figs. 24a, 24b (not shown), light sensing circuits Figs. 25a, 25b (not shown), pulse amplifiers Figs. 26a, 26b (not shown), memory circuits Figs. 27a, 27b (not shown), or a pulse width modulator Fig. 31 (not shown).
