Abstract

1417740 Locks GLORY KOGYO KK 4 April 1973 [13 April 1972] 16053/73 Heading E2A A rental locker comprises a lock freely removable from the locker and comprising an electrically controlled lock mechanism, a predetermined number of contacts provided on a contact board fixedly secured to a structural part of the rental locker, and a corresponding number of contacts provided on a contact board secured to the lock mechanism, each of the contacts on one of the two contact boards being resiliently urged against the corresponding contact of the other contact board, whereby a good electrical connection is effected between the electrically controlled look mechanism and the structural part of the rental locker through the contacts when the lock is in its installed position. A lock 1 comprises a base plate 6 and a front panel 9 supporting a lock 7 for securing the lock 1 in a chamber 5 and a cylinder lock 10 for locking the looker door 4 by a key 13. A plate 18 secured to a side plate 8 fixed to the base plate 6 supports an oblique insulated board 21 having a number of holes 22 and spring urged contacts 24 which move longitudinally in the holes to engage contacts 30 of an insulated oblique contact board 28 secured to an angle plate 29 fixed to the locker. To remove the lock 1 for repair or replacement, the lock 7 is released, and the contacts 24, 30 are disconnected as the lock 1 is withdrawn. The contacts 24 may be stationary and the contacts 30 spring urged to move longitudinally. An electrical control unit 19 is supported on the plate 18. The unit 19 is operated by a switch actuated by inserting the key in the lock 10, another switch actuated by operation of the bolt of the lock 10 and a further switch actuated by an electric motor 20 and a timer switch. Operation of the bolt of the lock 10 is initially blocked until a predetermined number of coins are inserted in an inlet 14 in the panel 9. When a predetermined time is exceeded the operation of the bolt is again blocked and is releasable by the key only when further coins indicated at a window 15 are inserted.
