Abstract

1417458 Hatch covers GATIC (AUSTRALIA) PTY Ltd 15 Feb 1973 [15 Feb 1972] 7593/73 Heading B7S A hatch cover comprises two sets 15 and 19 of cover members which are spaced to provide a thermally insulating air space. The lower members 19 are made of a double layer of asbestos to provide fire resistance. The upper members 15 are made of iron or concrete. The cover members rest on beams 10 and 18 which are removably supported on the hatchway surround 13. The beams 18 are sheathed with asbestos. The beams 18, instead of resting directly on the hatchway surround, may rest on further beams which are located at the edge of the hatchway and are secured to the surround, Fig. 4 (not shown).
