1417411 Cyclic imidic acid esters VEBACHEMIE AG 27 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 54621/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises 2-m-(tolyl)-#2-oxazoline and 2-cyclohexen-3-yl-#2-oxazoline and also a method of producing cyclic imidic acid esters of the general Formula (I) in which n is 1 or 2, R is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic, heterocyclic or aromatic radical or the radical (II) R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>11</SP> are hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, OH, COOH or CN and R<SP>111</SP> is an alkylene or alkenylene group, cycloalkylene or arylene with one or more substituents by reaction of mono- or dinitriles with optionally C-substituted C 2 - or C 3 -aminoalkanols the reaction being carried out in the presence of ammonium, sodium and/or potassium salts of organic and/or inorganic acids as catalysts. Examples describe the preparation of (a) p-phenylene-bis-2,2<SP>1</SP>-(#2-oxazoline), (b) 2-phenyl-#2- oxazoline, (c) 2-phenyl-4H-5,6-dihydro-1,3-oxazine, (d) 2-(p-tolyl)-A2-oxazoline and 2-(mtolyl) - #2 - oxazoline, (e) 2 - cyclohexen - 3- yl - #2 - oxazoline, (f) tetramethylene - bisoxazoline with some 2-(4-cyanbutyl)-A2-oxazoline, (g) 2-methyl-#2-oxazoline, (h) 2-ethyl- #2 - oxazoline, (j) 2 - (pyridyl - 3) - #2 - oxazoline, (k) 2-ethyl-4H-5,6-dihydro-1,3-oxazine, and (1) 2-(4-chlorobenzyl)-A2-oxazoline.
