Abstract
1417239 Polysulphone coated cookware IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 16 April 1974 [16 April 1973] 18183/73 Heading B2E Cookware, e.g. pans, dishes, pressure cookers, frying pans, baking tins and casseroles, is coated with an aromatic sulphone e.g. having repeating units of the formulae: I, II, III, IV or V where Y is O, S or the residue of an aromatic diol and Z is O or S. The coated cookware may be prepared by applying thermoplastic polysulphone to the surface of the cookware and increasing the molecular weight of the aromatic polysulphone, e.g. by irradiating using an electron beam, #-rays and ultraviolet light at temperatures up to 400‹C. The aromatic polysulphone may be mixed with 0.01 to 5% by weight of sulphur or sulphur compounds prior to application and the molecular weight of the aromatic polysulphone may be increased by heating at a temperature of 300‹ to 450‹C.
