Abstract

1416834 Gas burners; radiant tubes IPSEN INDUSTRIES INTERNATIONAL GmbH 14 March 1974 [17 March 1973] 11300/74 Headings F4T and F4B A burner comprises coaxial outer and inner pipes 6, 7 defining an annular space containing a burner head 9 having a deflector pot 10 surrounding the open inner end of inner pipe 7, the head 9 being supported on a stand pipe 12 surrounding pot 10 and fitted into outer pipe 6. Stand pipe 12 has a flange 11 bolted to a furnace wall 3 and provided with a central aperture 15 for supplying combustible gas. The opposite end of inner pipe 7 is supplied via fitting 16 with combustion air which flows through the pipe to issue into deflector pot 10. Some of this air flows through holes 22 in the latter to pre-mix with the combustible gas flowing through the annular space between pot 10 and stand pipe 12. This gas-air mixture then flows through rows of holes 19, 21, inclined at 15 degrees and 45 degrees, respectively, in burner head 9 to mix and burn with the remaining air entering the combustion region from the annular space between inner pipe 7 and pot 10. The exhaust gases flow over studs 18 on pipe 7 to effect preheating of the combustion air flowing therethrough. Outer pipe 6 is of ceramic and is secured to furnace wall 2 by a compensator 13 permitting free expansion. An ignition burner may be disposed adjacent the latter.
