Abstract
1416557 Adjusting radio apparatus WING- ROVE & ROGERS Ltd 27 Dec 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 60090/72 Heading H3Q [Also in Division F2] In a tuner assembly comprising a body or chassis 10, Figs. 1 and 3, having a plurality of spaced parallel disposed coils 17, ferrite or other cores 21 displaceably located in the coils, a carrier plate 24 to which the cores 21 are adjustably attached and an operating spindle 14 rotatable in the body, the spindle 14 and carrier plate 24 are formed or provided with cooperating screw threads 14a, 26, Fig. 4, so that on rotation of the spindle the carrier plate 24 is moved relative to the body and a bow-spring element 31 is arranged so as to urge the screw threads 14a 26 of the operating spindle 14 and carrier plate 24 into engagement so as to prevent free movement and the bow-spring element is also arranged to prevent rotary movement of the carrier plate relative to the body of the tuner. As shown the spring 31 engages a guide pin 30 to the body 10 to ensure that one wall of a slot 24a of the plate 24 is maintained in positive engagement with the pin 30. The spring 31 functions to eliminate backlash. The spindle 14 may be rotated by a knob mounted on its free end or by an associated push button mechanism. Any danger of the spindle 14 becoming disconnected from a bearing plate 12 when the carrier plate 24 presses against the bearing plate 12 is obviated by a spring washer 35 and a circlip (37, Fig. 5, not shown) which engages in a recess in a bearing washer 36. A modified bearing washer 36 is disclosed (Fig. 6, not shown). Surrounding the coils 17 are ferrite or other sleeves 20.
