Abstract

1416072 Transparent electrodes ELECTRICAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION Ltd 13 March 1974 [15 March 1973] 12444/73 Heading C1A A process for making transparent electrodes comprises screen-printing liquid matter comprising (1) an organo-tin compound and (2) an organo-antimony compound, an organo-bismuth compound, or (preferably) an organoindium compound, the organic radicals of which are aliphatic carboxylate radicals having a chain of at least 6 carbon atoms, octoates being preferred, on to a transparent, heat-resistant substrate and then firing the printed substrate, thereby converting the organometallic compounds into a transparent conductive layer of metallic oxide. In an example, the liquid matter comprises indium (III) octoate, tin (III) octoate, in an organic vehicle comprising 5% w./v. ethyl cellulose in terpineol and the substrate is of glass.
