Abstract

1415910 Benzothiazoles KYOWA HAKKO KOGYO CO Ltd 21 March 1973 13666/73 Heading C2C Compounds of the general formula (R = C 1-5 alkyl, C 6-10 aryl, C 7-10 aralkyl) and their salts are prepared by (a) reacting a com pound of the formula (Xa = halogen, leaving group) with RNH 2 , (b) reacting 6 - hydroxybenzothiazole with RNHCH 2 X (X = 2-halo-1-hydroxyethyl, oxiranyl), (c) hydrogenolysing the N-benzyl derivative or (d) reductively alkylating the comesponding primary amine, optionally followed in each case by salt formation. The products are #-adrenergic blocking agents, and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them in association with a carrier.
