Abstract

1415776 Blast heating stoves; non-atmospheric gas burner BROHLTAL-DEUMAG AG FUER FEUERFESTE ERZEUGNISSE 10 April 1973 [29 May 1972] 17085/73 Headings F4K and F4T In a stove for heating the blast for a blast furnace the gas and air are brought into the combustion chamber 3 through openings 10, 11, Fig. 2, in opposite walls, the openings being offset so that the streams of gas and air are interleaved for efficient mixing and burn in the combustion chamber. The stove is in the shape of a tower, the hot gases leaving the upper end of the combustion shaft 1 are deflected downwards by a dome and pass through the grid shaft 2 where the heat is given up to the stonework. When the stove is on blast, the blast is blown through the grid shaft in the other direction and the heated blast leaves from an outlet 25 in the combustion chamber. A cover plate 21 protects the combustion chamber from falling stones &c. As shown the gas and air chambers 4 and 5 are on opposite sides of the combustion chamber. In another form (Fig. 4, not shown) the gas chamber is at the outer wall of the stove and the air chamber is between the combustion chamber and the curved wall of the combustion shaft. In the form of Fig. 5 the combustion chamber 50 is external to the grid shaft 62, the hot gases passing up into the dome 63 before passing downwardly through the grid shaft. The gas and air are passed into the combustion chamber via offset openings 52 in opposite walls. In similar arrangements the combustion chamber may be mounted on the top of the dome (Fig. 8, not shown) or two external combustion chambers may be mounted just below the dome (Fig. 10, not shown).
