Abstract

1415583 Coating vitamins PFIZER Ltd 26 July 1974 [28 July 1973] 36032/73 Addition to 1237144 Heading C2V [Also in Division B2] Particulate vitamin material is sprayed with a coating substance in liquid form while the particulate material is maintained in the form of a fluidized bed rotating about a vertical axis, so as to produce vitamin material such that when the coated particles are agitated in a solvent for the vitamin which is a non-solvent for the coating, for 4 minutes at 20‹ C., the amount of the vitamin remaining undissolved is at least 95 per cent by weight. In examples fluidized particles of thiamine mononitrate, ascorbic acid, nicotinic acid, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride, vitamin A acetate and vitamin A palmitate (the last two having gelatine matrices) are sprayed with hydrogenated lard dissolved in perchlorethylene and the solvent evaporated to obtain coated particles.
