Abstract

1415524 Stabilising soil HOLLANDSCHE WEGENBOUW ZANEN NV and OLSTER ASPHALTFABRIEK BV 26 Nov 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 39835/72 Heading E1F Soil is stabilised by heating it and mixing the hot soil with a lesser amount of particulate or comminuted plastics material, the temperature being sufficient to soften at least part of the plastics material. The mixture is then allowed to cool, and may be compacted. About 2-30% of material, which may be a thermoplastics material such as polyethylene, P.V.C., polystyrene, polypropylene, polyesters, polyacrylates, polyamides or nylon, is used, and a hydrocarbon product such as bitumen, tar or asphalt may be mixed with the heated soil. The process may be carried out, continuously or batchwise, in a vehicle comprising a container for plastics material, means for removing soil from the ground, and means for heating it and mixing it with the material.
