Abstract

1414554 Moulding tyre valve coverings SCOVIL MFG CO 13 Sept 1973 [13 Oct 1972] 43170/73 Heading B5A In a process of moulding a rubber covering 48, Fig. 3, about a tyre valve body 22, the body is located in a mould cavity 14, Fig. 1, with the cylindrical top end 44 in an annular rubber slug S. The mould is then closed so that the tip of a pin 36 carried by the upper mould half, enters the valve body and as the mould continues to close and conical part 38 of the pin 36 flares the body part 44 outwardly and the rubber is moulded to bond to the body and form a cover with a flat surfaced flange. Flash is accumulated in the groove 28.
