Abstract

1414516 Oligomerization reactor; cooling exothermic reactions INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE 23 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 54245/72 Headings B1F and B1X [Also in Division C5] In an apparatus, Fig. 1, for an exothermic oligomerization reaction, propylene is dimerised to iso-hexenes by passing a mixture containing 5% propane and catalyst through inlet 15 into reactor 14 where it is recycled through cooler 18 and the mixture is then passed via conduit 10 to chamber 1 where the mixture flows through a structure comprising baffle plates 2-9 e.g. welded "L" shaped iron pieces, which meet each other to form a folded or convoluted enclosed duct e.g. with a cross section as shown in Fig. 2.
