Abstract
1414513 Organic phosphites SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd and KYODO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 17 Nov 1972 [18 Nov 1971] 53333/72 Heading C2P [Also in Division C3] Compounds of Formula I where 1 or 2 of the groups R 1 , R 2 and R 3 has the formula R(OC n H 2n ) m -, where R is C 1-18 alkyl or C 2-24 alkenyl optionally substituted by at least one OH group or Cl atom or is aralkyl, n is 1 to 4 and m is 1 to 8, and each of the remaining groups R 1 , R 2 and/or R 3 is C 1-18 alkyl or C 2-24 alkenyl optionally substituted by at least one OH group or Cl atom or is aralkyl or unsubstituted aryl, which compounds are used as stabilizers for halogen-containing resins, may be prepared by reacting a compound (R 4 O) 3 P, where each R 3 is independently R 4 is as defined for R 1 , R 2 and R 3 but is not R(OC n H 2n ) m -, with an alcohol R(OC n H 2n ) m OH in the presence of a basic catalyst. The invention includes a stabilizer containing a compound of formula I and one or more other stabilizers, stabilizing assistants, antioxidants or ultraviolet ray absorbents. The compound O,O-diphenyl-O-2-(2-butoxyethoxy)-ethyl phosphite is claimed per se.
