Abstract

1307292 Aroylamidophenols CIBA-GEIGY AG 29 April 1970 [30 April 1969] 20700/70 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds of the formula wherein R 1 represents an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl group having 5 to 12 carbon atoms; R 2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a cycloalkyl group having 5 to 12 carbon atoms, p is an integer from 1 to 3 and Aryl is a p-valent hydrocarbon group having from 6 to 22 carbon atoms. Such compounds are prepared by reacting appropriately substituted acid halides and aminophenols. Among the products produced in examples are 4-benzamido-2,6-di-t-butylphenol, 4 - naphthoyl - amido - 2 - methyl - 6 - t - butylphenol and 4,4<SP>1</SP>,4<SP>11 </SP>- trimesylamido - 2,6 - dit-amylphenol. The products are employed as antioxidants (see Division C3).
